About Pastry Art Academy

Pastry Art Academy is based in Johor Bahru. We train the next generation of bakers and pastry chefs. Craft has no age limit: you can start your pastry journey from age sixteen. Whether you want a stable job, your own bakery, a career change, or just better skills, the pastry arts offer a path for life.

Our training is hands-on from day one. You learn real techniques, not just theory. We teach the skills used in real bakeries and kitchens today. You won't just follow recipes; you'll understand why each step matters, and how the industry really works.

Chef Terry leads our bakery and viennoiserie training, bringing the discipline of a world-class hotel kitchen into the classroom. His craft has been proven on the competition stage, winning Best Viennoiseries & Artisan Baguette at the FHA Bakery Challenge 2026, and sharpened through his years at Marina Bay Sands. Under his guidance, you will master the fundamentals behind exceptional bread, from perfectly laminated croissants and pastries to naturally leavened artisan loaves.

Do I need any experience to enrol?+

No. Our programmes are built for complete beginners as well as SPM graduates and career switchers. You can start your pastry journey from age 16 with no prior experience.

How long are the programmes?+

The Level 2 Diploma in Baking & Patisserie is a 4-month full-time programme (Monday–Thursday) and Level 3 is 6 months full-time (Monday–Friday). For working adults there is a part-time weekend course in four stages, and we also offer shorter day baking classes.

How much do the courses cost?+

At Pastry Art Academy in Ulu Tiram, Johor Bahru, the TQUK-endorsed UK Baking & Pastry Diploma is paid in monthly instalments at 0% interest. For the 2026 intake, Level 2 (4 months, full-time) is 4 payments of RM4,875 and Level 3 (6 months, full-time) is 6 payments of RM4,917, the last one RM4,915, with no interest or fees on top, and the RM1,000 registration fee is waived. The part-time weekend Professional Baking and Pastry Course is paid stage by stage, starting with RM5,500 for Stage 1.

Do you have a part-time or weekend course?+

Yes. The Professional Baking and Pastry Course is a part-time weekend course for working adults, from 9:00am to 6:00pm, in four stages. You start with Stage 1 and decide on each stage after you finish the one before. It is a Pastry Art Academy course, separate from the Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas.

Where is the academy located?+

We're in Taman Pelangi Indah, Ulu Tiram, Johor Bahru, about 10 minutes from Mount Austin, with easy parking on site.

Who teaches the courses?+

Our lead instructor is Chef Hang, who for years has personally designed the themed cakes for the Sultan of Johor's birthday celebrations. Training is hands-on in a real professional kitchen, with the theory behind each technique taught alongside it.

What qualification will I earn?+

Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma students graduate with a Diploma in Baking & Patisserie endorsed by Training Qualifications UK, a UK awarding organisation, plus a portfolio of your own work and the business skills to take a job or open your own bakery. TQUK issues your certificate.

Is an internship required for the diploma?+

No, an internship is optional. Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma students earn their TQUK-endorsed diploma by completing the course hours and assessments. If you'd like work experience, we can recommend you for an internship with our industry partners, Fire Pitz Group in Horizon Hills, Iskandar Puteri, Doña Bakehouse in Johor Bahru, Alina Cafe in Iskandar Puteri, and Love Fun Baking House in Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru. Placements are agreed case by case, depending on the partner's operations, and an internship is not a guaranteed job offer.
